HOWIE MICHAEL SMITH  (Bob) played the dual roles of Princeton/Rod over 1000 times in the  Broadway production of Avenue Q. MACKENZIE BELL (Jen) is thrilled to be a part of this wonderful company!  Recent credits: Lorraine in Jersey Boys (1st National Tour, Vegas, Chicago), Aspen in Fat Camp (NY/Regional Lab), Carrie the Musical (Off-Broadway), Diner the Musical (NY workshop).  Regional: Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Surflight Theater.  BFA Music Theatre, Elon University. LORRAINE FERRO (Harriet) is a songwriter with #1 and platinum selling hits. Her songs have been sung by a spectrum of artists ranging from Jessica Simpson to Lesley Gore to Susan Ashton and Avalon. She was featured on the NBC-TV show The Voice last September and was cast in the band of the Broadway staged reading of Urban Cowboy. Lorraine played Evelyn in the staged reading of Brooklyn Odyssey and is currently in a musical being developed by bandmate JoAnn Robertozzi, called Labor of Love. Lorraine is in an Italian-American female trio called "Tre Bella." She's also the voice of national jingles including Folgers, Valtrex, and Pillsbury. Lorraine taught for the Songwriters Hall of Fame in NYC for over ten years, and is an in-demand voice, songwriting and acting coach. She currently teaches here in NYC and with Life Center Stage in Rockaway, NJ. Thank you Arnie and Joey for this opportunity, and kisses to Tanya Leah. Lorraine dedicates this run to her mom Lucy, who taught her everything she knows, and to her dad, Thomas Ferro, and Aunt Mary, who, she's sure, will be watching from Heaven, since they've never missed a show!

CONNOR MOORE (Ronnie) is excited to return a second time to the NYC Fringe Festival. His first appearance was in Chantal Bilodeau's The Motherline in 2010. He spent the winter at Florida Studio Theatre where he played piano and sang the country blues in Urban Cowboys. Recent New York credits include Fashionistas by Janet Allard at Urban Stages and The Suicide Club by Mario Fratti at Theater for the New City. He has also appeared regionally at Connecticut Repertory Theatre as Freddy in My Fair Lady alongside Terrance Mann. He is originally from Dubuque, Iowa.

MELANIE BROOK  (Narrator/Stella/Woman 1) is very excited to make her Fringe debut with America's Breath of Fresh Air! Melanie just graduated from Wagner College with a BA in Theatre Performance. Past credits include A Daughter of Israel (Looking Glass Theatre), RENT (Maureen), Next to Normal (Natalie). MICHAEL LORZ  (Big Jimmy/Jesus/Man 1) recently graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts - CAP21.  Recent credits include The Swiss Family Robinson (NYMF), Gross Indecency (Gayfest NYC), Hello Again (The Young Thing), Marat Sade: A Rock Opera, and See What I Wanna See (Janitor / Priest).  Thank you DBA for all of the opportunities, and thank you to the creative team for taking a chance on me!

DAVID PERLMAN  (Jake/Man 2) is thrilled to be a part of this show!  Broadway: Baby It's You!  Off-Broadway: Yank!  Favorite credits include Woof in Hair (European tour), Melman in Madagascar Live! (Radio City Music Hall), Murray in Iron Curtain (Prospect Theater Company), and Motel in Fiddler on the Roof (PCLO).  TV:  30 Rock (bilarious!), Law and Order.  David is currently creating Actors' Hub, a home base for actors and theatre professionals in midtown where we can leave stuff in lockers, take a nap, do work, warm up, relax, and more.

LINDSEY LAKE (Caitlin/Woman 2) is a graduate of the Hartt School of Music, Dance and Theatre where she earned a B.F.A in Musical Theatre.  She was last seen as Factory Girl/Fantine in Les Miserables at North Shore Music Theatre.  Favorite roles include Mrs. Cohen and Maureen in the National Tour of RENT and Faith in the Boston production of Respect: A Musical Journey of Women.  Every note I sing is for Zoe and Ethan...always follow your dreams.


ARNIE ROMAN (Producer/Composer/Playwright) has been writing songs professionally since 1982. The list of artists that have recorded his songs is long and varied...from The Pointer Sisters and Al Green, to Celine Dion and Kenny Chesney. His songs have been on albums that have sold more than eighty million records and CDs world-wide, and he has had a slew of top ten singles on Billboard’s Pop, Country, and Dance charts, as well as several top ten hits overseas. Over the last few years, Arnie has turned his attention to musical theater. His first musical, “Is The Word...Bob Summers?”, for which he wrote both the book and the songs, was a finalist for the 2012 Richard Rodgers Award, as well as the 2012 Reva Shiner Comedy Award. Subsequently renamed “America’s Breath Of Fresh Air”, the show will be performed as part of the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival. He currently is living in Riverdale, New York, with his wife Tanya, and their cat, Julius.

JOEY MURRAY (Director) currently serves as the Artistic Director of "The Broadway Dolls", a “Best of Manhattan” award-winning stage show, which he has directed at performing art centers all over the United States and China.  New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) directing credits include Bashert in 2012, and Tour de Fierce in 2011.  He developed and directed the world premiere Kander and Ebb project City Lights at Downstairs Cabaret Theatre in Rochester.  Off Broadway/NYC credits include: The Hole (Theatre at St. Clements) with collaborators Baumgartner/Hellig; The Gallery (New York Theatre Barn); An Evening of Firsts (feat. Mary Testa and Steven DeRosa); Love Letter (Zipper Theatre); The Pride Concert (Joe’s Pub/Public); Forgiven (fifty7prod), and numerous concerts/readings/workshops.  Assistant Director Grease (Gateway Playhouse).  Graduate of Catholic University of America.  Studied playwriting and directing at NYU and The Barrow Group.  Thanks to Arnie and Heidi, and our entire company. 

NATALIE MALOTKE (Choreographer) is currently the resident director/choreographer for Nickelodeon on the Norwegian Cruise Lines fleet. She assisted on Susan Stroman's LITTLE DANCER in NYC after being the SDCF Observer at Lincoln Center. Natalie teaches at BDC, CAP21, PSU, MTCA and Rosie’s Theatre Kids. Select credits: FEATHER (NYMF'13), ARNIE THE DOUGHNUT (NYMF'12), Regional: THE WEDDING SINGER, STATE FAIR, and the American premiere of JERRY SPRINGER: THE OPERA in Chicago. ALISON FRANCK / Liz Lewis Casting Partners (Casting Director) has been a front-runner in the casting industry for over 20 years, securing talent for commercials, film, television, theatre, voice overs & reality and has offices in New York City and Los Angeles.  Alison Franck has been the Casting Director for Big League Productions, Inc since 2008, casting tours of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Ain't Misbe- havin', Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical (3 years), My Fair Lady, Guys and Dolls, and tours of Dreamgirls and Hair. Alison also was the Resident Casting Director for Paper Mill Playhouse for 10 years, where she cast over 50 productions, including the Broadway transfer of I’m Not Rappaport, starring Judd Hirsch and Ben Vereen, directed by Daniel Sullivan. Regional: Pirates! (Goodspeed - Paper Mill), Hairspray, and Les Misérables (North Shore) and 2007’s mini-tour of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (TUTS/Paper Mill Playhouse/North Shore/TOTS).

HEIDI HEILIG (Script Consultant) is an all and sundry wordsmith, although some of her specialties are musical theatre book and lyrics and internet arguments. Some of her musicals include The Time Travelers Convention with Mike Pettry and The Hole with Rob Baumgartner and Joey Murray.  Some of her arguments include What Is, Hands Down, The Greatest Band Of All Time (NOFX) and Just Because It's Snowing Doesn't Mean Global Warming Isn't Real. Her latest project is a young adult novel about a girl that lives aboard a time traveling pirate ship. Really. It's better than vampires.

STEVEN BOYD BAKER (Assistant Director) has a BFA from Elon University and is a proud member of AEA.  He owns and runs Bennu Productions which has been involved in Broadway's Porgy and Bess and Gore Vidal's The Best Man.  He has also produced the musicals Tour de Fierce and Stay the MUSICAL  Much love and thanks to Bob and Kathy for their unwavering love and support.

MARK BERMAN (Musical Director) is a much sought after pianist, composer, arranger and music director.  He has written for, played and recorded with the proverbial who's who of jazz, pop, and rock, including Aretha Franklin, Carole King, Wycliff Gordon, Lesley Gore, Gladys Knight, Phoebe Snow and Phil Ramone, among many others.  A graduate of The Hartt School of Music, Berman officially achieved pop culture glory when he played piano on the world famous theme to HBO's Sex and the City, and written for the show and others, including Showtime's Nurse Jackie and AMC's Royal Pains among others.  He has also been a powerful presence on Broadway, having conducted Rent, Smokey Joe's Cafe, and Blood Brothers and played lead piano/keyboards on The Boy From Oz, Hairspray, The Life, Dreamgirls, Rent, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair, and others.  He also served as music director for several productions at Westport Country Playhouse under artistic director Joanne Woodward.  Berman's highly acclaimed debut recording, "The Genesis Project", garnered raves.  Notably, Hugh Jackman says of Berman, "He is a rock of creativity, laughter and joy".  Berman lives in New York City.

PAIGE WHEAT (Assistant Choreographer) is a performer and teacher.  Performer:  Theatre Under The Stars, Casa Mañana, Gateway Playhouse, and upcoming national tour of Hello Dolly!  Teacher:  Royal Academy of Fine Arts.

AMY FRANCIS SCHOTT (Stage Manager) has stage managed and/or lit theater, dance, and music in venues from the ballroom of an abandoned hotel in St. Louis (her hometown); a sandy clearing in the central Tennessee woods; and the historic Shubert Theatre in New Haven, CT.  In NYC, Amy has worked on projects at the York Theatre, Symphony Space, Lincoln Center Institute, NYMF, Ars Nova, 3LD, (le) Poisson Rouge, and the NAMT Festival of New Musicals.  AEA member since 2003.

BERNARD FOX (Sound Designer)  Broadway Sound Design for “Sophisticated Ladies”, “City of Angels”, Associate Sound Designer of “Beauty and the Beast”, and many others.  Inventor of Theatrical Sound Automation.  Inventor of a totally new Hearing Aid. Inventor of the Head-Worn Theatrical Microphone.  One of the very few (if not the only) designers that also does major music recording including many gold records, theme park design, record production, teaching, and inventing.  Sound Designer of the Mystic Aquarium Institute of Exploration, Busch Gardens Manatee Habitat, The Museum of Sound Recording. Currently recording at Kaufman Astoria Music and Sound.

RICHARD R. DUNNING (Sound Designer) is grateful to be entering 40 years in the Theatre!  National Tours of Broadway shows:  Numerous, Broadway and Off Broadway productions, as an engineer and designer.  Favorite productions include “La Cage aux Folles” the original, Best Musical in 1983 “Glass Menagerie” for the Roundabout Theatre Company with Julie Harris (sound design), Two “Gypsy’s” … Directed by Arthur Laurents. with Tyne Daly (engineer) and Patti LuPone at The St. James (local crew).  Most recently   Fashion - M.B.F.W.  N.Y.   

JIMMY CHERRY (Lighting Designer) has been shining lights on stuff since '74.

LES SCHECTER (Publicity)  has publicized more than two dozen Broadway productions over the past 30 years, including  Irene (Debbie Reynolds); Athol Fugard’s Sizwe Banzi Is Dead and The Island; Don’t Bother Me I Cant Cope, and the Richard Rodgers/Martin Charnin musical Two By Two (Danny Kaye). He co-founded and publicized the American Indian Dance Theatre from 1987 through 2004. He launched and publicized the classic PBS series “Live From Lincoln Center”(10 years), “Nature” (10 years) and “American Playhouse” (14  years). In 1973, he co-produced the Broadway musical revue Nash at Nine (E.G. Marshall and Virginia  Vestoff). Since 1997, he has marketed and publicized the annual Feast of San Gennaro. A Board Member of the Duke Ellington Center for the Performing Arts, he was publicist for the Drama Desk Awards from 1999 to 2012.
